Product Description
The Curved Chunker was first introduced to the grooming industry by Randy Lowe, Precision Sharp Co. in 2013, taking Randy’s creativity and technical knowledge to a new level. The Precise Cut chunker/notcher is unlike any other chunker or thinner on the market. Although it has a convex edge, by its nature of curving the “thinning teeth” it will not be the baby butt smoothness convex edge shears are known for.
Each curved chunker is hand-bent by Randy. No two will ever be exactly alike. When opening and closing, you will be able to feel each tooth as the blades swipe together. Make certain to open and close using a straight upward and downward movement. Pushing or pulling incorrectly with the thumb will cause the blades to push apart or teeth to “catch”.
Unlike other chunkers on the market, the Precise Cut chunker has a unique ball bearing alignment system. This adjustor kmob system has a knob, bolt, bearing and spring system combined into one assembly. The bearing is pressed into the back of the shear which makes a more stable pivot point. The threads on the bolt very precisely and snuggly match thte threads of trhe nut. The nut itself is designed with a spring plate attached to the underside of the nut. As the nut is tightened, the spring plate becomes compressed. In addition, there is a urethane insert inside of the nut that pushes on the threads of the bolt. Another unique feature is the way the top of the teeth are specially sharpened using two different methods to make the hair hold and not slide across the top of the teeth providing for a more precise cut all the way to the tip.
While we do not require that our Precise Cut shears be returned to us specifically for sharpening, note that we do not warrant them against improper sharpening. It is highly unlikely that conventional sharpeners will know how to keep these working correctly. We do, however, warrant them for the life of the scissor against manufacture defects.
